Taoist Meditation Seminars at Oxinar

These seminars are meant as a bridge to link our practise of Taoist Meditation to Master Bruce Frantzis. It is hoped that he will visit Oxford yearly to continue his teachings of Taoist Meditation.

These seminars are both to go over and clarify material he has taught, and identify both what people would want and need to work on in order to ask Bruce to help address these when he's over. As these become more apparent, we should also be able to ask him for some advice on these during the year also. This way, we hope to get the most from Bruce's visits and out practise of Taoist Meditation as a whole.

THIS SEMINAR

This seminar is geared towards beginners and those who have some experience of Taoist Meditation. The main topic will be how to actually feel blockages and imbalances in your energy, emotions, and mind. We will then attempt to release some of this blockage with the inner dissolving process.

Care will be taken to lay good foundations for dissolving practise and avoid pitfalls people sometimes fall into, as well as address any questions or difficulties people are experiencing in their practise so as to gain the most benefit from practise.

More experienced practitioners will focus on more precision in their practise in all areas.

If there is sufficient interest, this seminar will be extended to two days, allowing us to go more deeply into the material. Please let me know ASAP if you would like this.

The seminar is open to all who have attended Taoist Meditation teachings with Mr Frantzis, or who intend to.

TIMING OF THE DAYS:

The days will run from 10am – 1pm, and from 3.30pm – 5.30pm.

This will allow plenty of time for lunch and a rest in the middle of the day.

LOCATION:

The retreat will be held at Wolfson College. Please click here for a map and directions for Wolfson College.

WEATHER:

If the weather is good… we will practise outside when appropriate! If not, indoors.

FOOD:

Good food is available at nearby shops and restaurants, and there are some great picnic areas if it is good weather.

PARKING:

Parking is free at Wolfson College, park in the college car park.

Let me know ASAP if you are interested so I can organise, details soon!

Summer Retreat

Our Summer Retreat will run from July 31st - August 4th at the Oxford Quaker Centre, a lovely secluded space with gardens in central Oxford.

“Releasing the Nerves & Freeing Your Body, Energy and Emotions”

The seminar will focus on relaxing tension held in the nerves using breathing, movement and direct energetic techniques, so that muscles relax and any "rev" held in the nervous system can slow down and go easy and quiet.

As tension in the nerves releases and space inside you opens up, we will explore how to free or open up this space further, in your body, energy and emotions.

Techniques taught will include:

  • “Breathing from the heels” - a Taoist longevity technique to help you feel and release your nerves and energy
  • Two Tao Yoga Sets to deepen the breath and strengthen the organs, and the “second set” to release the nerves especially for those who already know the first set.
  • Dragon & Tiger Medical Qigong - especially to open up and extend your energy (including all “Level 2” techniques for more advanced students), and also relax and smooth out the emotions
  • Qigong Tui Na Massage - here for use in qigong only (not for treatment purposes), this style of "massage" can be used help people learn how to release their nerves and relax as they do qigong by learning to do this to other people
  • Cloud Hands Neigong to release the nerves and chi at different depths inside the body so opening deeper layers of the body and deeper energies, especially in more advanced students
  • Taoist Meditation Evenings - these may possibly occur in the evenings if there is sufficient interest

We will go between these in a “circular” fashion to create a very smooth and continuous progress of release and deepening of experience.

You must have at least one term‘s Oxinar experience, the more the merrier, or equivalent to attend.
